A fun and relaxing read that describes and details the team mentality, the relationships between coaches and players, and the general atmosphere in the locker room during an exciting post-season run. The book focuses on the playoffs, with a few short and interesting side stories during the regular season. Very enjoyable if you are an NBA fan.
I can't recommend this one highly enough to fan's of today's NBA. Steve Nash and the rest of the Suns make for fascinating reading, delivered in terrific style by my favorite current working NBA writer, Jack McCallum. Please, never retire, Jack.
This book delivered exactly what I hoped which was an inside look at the inner-workings of an NBA franchise. I am a huge basketball nerd and really enjoyed reading this. I wish I had read it when it first came out so that some of the games they were talking about were fresher in my mind. The book seems to be pretty well written and well organized (not that I'm an expert in writing). I guess what I'm trying to say is the book flowed really well.I would recommend this to any Pheonix Suns fan or to any huge basketball nerd.
If your a Knick fan, this is a must read. It is such a candid view of a basketball team on and off the court and how much prep work the coaching staff does for each game. You get to know who Mike D'Antoni is as a coach. You'll root for Tim Thomas a little more when he's playing, and you will believe that Nash will be a Knick next season. It seems that it would be more draining to be a coach in this league then it would be to be a player. In closing I miss Charles Oakley and 2010 gets closer each day.
The author did a fantastic job to mix the fun stories and insight information during the playoff run.
